Add your voice to the discussion. I want in this topic to encourage you to get involved in the discussion. In the next topic I am going to continue my thoughts on how we should approach developing a master plan for recovery. We could be far more efficient, if we pulled all the elements together. If we reported to everyone what had been discussed, what ideas had been pursued, and what plans had been undertaken. I know a discussion of a medical complex has been kicked around by some, what has been the results, who knows? I once heard that Ag Land had approved a plan to rebuild outside of Elmwood, is this true? If it is then there is a large area that needs to be considered for development. I have heard any number of rumors, but wouldn't people who submitted ideas to the Recovery Committee submit better ideas if there was accurate information being made available to the public. This isn't priviledged personal information about anyone's business plans. This is simple things like if Farm King was approached, what was their response. I think we should very thouroughly develop an overall plan before we do business recruitment. We should also consider who represents Elmwood in these contacts, are they people who can talk the language of those we are approaching. Have we done our homework before we ask for a meeting? You should direct your ideas to the City Council, the Recovery Committee, and allow me post them here. I would also encourage you to ask the City Council, the Recovery Committee, and any other group representing you to report back to the people. Our institutions have behaved like a secret society. I am attending all the City Council meetings so there is some accessible public way to follow our progress. It is almost impossible to know what to suggest when there is no dialog, no feedback, and no one reporting, so an informed discussion can go forward. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 3:45 PM Wednesday, September 15, 2010 8:59 AM I am pleased to report I feel we have a new opportunity to coordinate this recovery effort. I think the many good elemnets in this community are coming together. I am not changing my thoughts expressed in the above paragraph, because it is how Elmwood has operated to its detriment. Here is an Org Chart presented by John Hamann last night. There is a meeting of the Recovery Committee with other groups tonight at 4:30 PM(is this afternoon?). I will be at music Wednesdays at the UMC, so I won't be attending. I have not gone to the Recovery meetings, so as not to appear contentious. Will we get a report of the meeting? Not unless a new attitude now prevails, so I would encourage anyone interested in Elmwood's future to get involved. I am going to outline development ideas specific to Elmwood, today. I will probably repeat some suggestions already made or being pursued, but with our lack of information flow that can't be avoided. An Elmwood Plan |
