April 5th Election Candidate ResponsesCity Council Candidate Ward 1 Kenneth E. Howard 1) Why did you decide to run for the city council position? I was asked by a couple of people if I would run since Don Ekena was not seeking another term. They thought I would be a good Alderman. I believe I can do a good job. I appreciate the faith they expressed. 2) What goals would you like to see the City of Elmwood achieve during your term? I would like to see the downtown get rebuilt. I believe the next few years are going to really be tough financially, so we will have to really work hard to keep what we have. I will listen to what the people from Ward 1 have to say. Try to the best of my abilities to address these concerns; I will work in conjunction with all the city council for the betterment of our city.
This is hard to say because the city of Elmwood is the Mayor, Aldermen, the Clerk and Citizens. My goal is to do my best for the City of Elmwood. I have no personal agenda; therefore, the city will be upper most in my thinking.
I ran a contracting business, a union negotiator, and a parent.
I have been married to my wife of 38 years Trudy Runyon Howard. Most of my working career has been in the public sector. 30 plus years as a firefighter (20 of which were on a paid department). During this time I was an EMT for 24 years. The last 2 or 3 years working for the City of Elmwood part time.
