HGTV a lesson in relationships
Now, I don’t need to be with Nancy at every event, we each enjoy our being apart at times. However, I enjoy going to dinner with my wife just as a couple as much as being with another couple or friends. Some young people have trouble breaking from old social groups. There is nothing wrong with hanging out with a group of friends, but there is a single life style and a married life style. You must be ready to make that married lifestyle your emphasis.
A successful couple’s expectations must be aligned. A person who is comfortable in his or her own skin can be engaged in life. If a couple or one person of a couple seeks the other to change or to be someone they are not; the relationship is in trouble. If your spouse must love opera to be the perfect spouse, then do not marry the local good ole boy who loves hunting and four wheelers. If you do love a good ole boy then recognize a four-wheeler may be a high priority in deciding what to buy, probably far more important than new window treatments. Window treatments is something I learned from HGTV, I thought they were called curtains.
A successful couple may not always agree about decisions and priorities, but major financial decisions need to be informed decisions. Understand what is important to each other and what it will take to live without so much stress. Create decisions in ways that feelings are shared. Make your decisions in a way of reaching together for your dreams. With some planning, a working couple can probably afford window treatments and a four-wheeler, maybe not a new four-wheeler.
A successful couple need not have children. If you never want to be a parent, do the future a favor do not have children. If you do have children they must be the focus of every decision in a marriage from that time forward. ...
