Homeless for the Holidays --- Theatre Remains Dark

The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity grant applied for by the City of Elmwood was expected to be determined by September. The City of Elmwood could expect possibly $750,000. The grant has not come through, and a portion of it could have helped the Palace restoration. Here is the Catch-22; Reynolds Theatres were first told if starting with their insurance settlement then grant money can't be used to finish. Since the insurance settlement will not meet the amount needed to finish restoration, the Palace would be left unusable. So as we approach the end of the year while some things are rebuilt and some businesses back in place. Elmwood's top priorities are still languishing. This year where many have watched wonderful Christmas movies in the past, we are left to wonder what will happen in 2011. Possibly many saw this classic movie of The Christmas Carol in the time described by Karl Taylor in Palace Wednesdays
