Editorial Philosophy

I may write controversial things, but I'm not petty. I never intend to be controversial; so I am always amazed when I write something that raises people's ire.

In these columns I will try to stay thoughtful and seek to evaluate life as it unfolds not through any lens. So if I arouse your ire or just your thoughts, you can interact with me just email: The Steve

Thursday morning after the storm

... I stated what I learned from the newspaper, if the city had been more forthcoming in responding to the PJ Star reporter then everyone would have known the facts. The paper stated it was Don Ekena's decision. It is the City's response that failed to clarify, if this was untrue. The letter from the Mayor in the Shopper claimed another arborist was consulted from Hoerr's in addition to Dave Wiltz. People who work around trees are not necessarily arborists.

"Steve if you feel so passionate about this then why did you not attend and voice your opinion and concerns at the meetings about the trees that were held at City Hall."

The special meetings are posted by putting a small print letter on a bulletin board at city hall. Most of the time no one even knows there is a special meeting. The city does not publish the agenda or the minutes of the meetings special or regular. Was there a published meeting about deciding which trees to cut? I would have been glad to attend, but I and no one else was aware of any meeting.

"Steve you were not at the park when this decision was made, therefore do not jump to conclusions. If you are so adamant about this then voice your concern at a City Council meeting rather then on a public forum such as this."
