I may write controversial things, but I'm not petty.

by: Steve Davis

I never intend to be controversial; so I am always amazed when I write something that raises people's ire.

In these columns I will try to stay thoughtful and seek to evaluate life as it unfolds not through any lens.

We are ill served by those who seek to create smoke to cover their tracks instead of discussing the issues. Most partisan debate is not intended to lead towards a workable compromise, but is put forth to defend the pre-determined policy.

Our society has the technology to hand we the people the tools to truly interact with our government, but most political activity is designed to put government in the control of. as few hands, as possible.

We should speak up and claim our rights as American citizens. Do you vote?

Da Senator

The Republicans' Absentee Candidacy

by: Steve Davis

Coach Ditka said no, so the Illinois Republican Party has no candidate for US Senator. No one seems to want to throw away eight to twelve million dollars to make a credible campaign with little hope of winning.

I think this is an example of the outrageous, all about the money, political system we have in the United States today. Republicans believe "more money is more free speech" Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, et. al.

I hope Illinois Republicans enjoy the silence in the upcoming campaign from their side because money is the main reason the ballot on the R side for this open seat is still open.

Sen. Barak Obama

Illinois Democratic Candidate for US Senate

by: Steve Davis

Elected to the Illinois Senate from District 13 in 1996, Barak Obama is currently serving in the Illinois Senate. District 13 is located in Chicago's South Side, Sen Obama won an overwhelmingly victory in a seven candidate primary. He will turn 43 on August 4, 2004.

Obama is a graduate of Columbia University. He also is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School. He served as president of the Harvard Law Review.

Sen Obama is currently a senior lecturer specializing in constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School.

Sen, Obama has been selected to give the keynote address at the National Democratic Convention. If destiny has now selected him to be our next US Senator, I hope he will be as good as as his resume.

So if I arouse your ire or just your thoughts, you can interact with me by email me.

Since it appears that Sen. Barak Obama's election to the US Senate is as likely as Rep. Ray LaHood's re-election in Congressional District 18, I felt we should know a little background info about Sen. Obama.
