Cahokia Mounds has been designated a World Heritage Site. The highest mound is 90 feet high, steps are built to allow you to climb up and view the vista of the surrounding area you can see the Arch from the top.
The area around Cahokia gets a little urban, so use your GPS or a good map to determine the best route. It is going to depend on what other activities you may want to fit in to your trip. It will be a very long day if you try to go down and then come back in one day.
