I may write controversial things, but I'm not petty. I never intend to be controversial; so I am always amazed when I write something that raises people's ire.

Fire Back Don't Think

... Of course, when emotions run high the first reaction is to get all burred up like a scolding squirrel. Although a good many squirrels in Elmwood's Central Park were left without a limb to scold from after the removal was ordered. Tonight the Elmwood Community Foundation is holding a forum to discuss planning a future for Central Park. One of the tenets is to allow no complaining no looking back. I think this is a good approach for the meeting. It is not my purpose in this essay, I think we must examine how we got here, so that it will not happen again.

Forgiveness doesn't mean forgetfulness

It is Christian to forgive, a trait easy to forget when the world is filled with so many unforgiving people, some of whom claim to be Christian. Forgiving and finding a positive path forward doesn't mean we shouldn't find a way to improve the future by learning from the past. I think the City of Elmwood's approach in this matter demonstrated a careless disregard for the citizens of Elmwood. A government is to represent its citizens not dictate how they should feel, hide from their ideas, or spend their money without following statute.
